The FRIDAY WRAP for April 20th, 2018

Welcome to the Friday Wrap for April 20th, 2018!  We are spotlighting another Burr Ridge business today by filming this week at Burr Ridge Hot Yoga, previously called “Bikram Yoga”.  Click on the pic or the link to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HWiB-ZIx-8.

Shirley Ryan Ability Lab Opening April 23rd:
It is hard to believe how quickly and efficiently the  new outpatient medical facility has been built!  Located on County Line Road and formerly known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago or RIC, the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab has been the most highly accredited rehabilitation institution in the country for twenty-seven (27) years in a row!  The Ability Lab is going to be caring for their first patients on Monday, April 23rd and have a public Grand Opening on May 5th

America’s Premiere Medical Lab…in Burr Ridge!
Whoever knew that inside the North American Spine Society facility is one of the most advanced Medical Training Centers and a Bio Lab in the country?  After a dozen years of being curious about the organization and building (located along North Frontage Road), I finally had the chance to meet one of their executives and get a TOUR and was absolutely amazed! Containing the latest in technological and medical equipment, it houses offices for over 50 employees, a conference center and a theatre style auditorium for training.  In the basement is a BIO LAB that allows all those in training to watch a surgery taking place on hi-definition screen from the theater or to practice on a cadaver simultaneously on a table across the room or even across the globe.  Located inside one of the village’s oldest office buildings (that was formerly part of International Harvester) NASS is an organization whose mission is Advancing Global Spine Care.  For more information, take a look at the attached flyer.

CROWNE PLAZA WINS AWARD!
Susan Sta Cruz of the CROWNE PLAZA Chicago SW in Burr Ridge informed the Village this week they received the 2017 Renovation Award from their management company IHG InterContinental Hotel Group.   CONGRATULATIONS CROWNE PLAZAwe are excited you are here!  That renovation made such a huge improvement to Burr Ridge’s curb appeal for the 180,000 people who drive by daily!

Other Burr Ridge News . . .

  • Several of us from the Village paid our last respects to former Trustee Dolores Cizek during funeral services held on Monday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Hinsdale.
  • The Burr Ridge Police Department will participate in the 2nd Annual Distracted Awareness Week from April 23-27 to educate local drivers.
  • Last weekend, my wife and I were able to attend a very special wedding of Noor Abuzir to Burr Ridge resident and owner of Highline Auto Sales, Sam Barakat.  (I had to capture a picture of his happy and proud Dad, Jerry Barakat, too!)
  • The next Village Board Meeting is on Monday at 7:00 pm.

Burr Ridge Hot Yoga: This week I filmed the Friday Wrap from Burr Ridge Hot Yoga located at 145 Tower Drive near Carriage Way…and even participated in a class.  The popularity of Hot Yoga is growing and I’m not surprised after hearing all the benefits for detoxing, weight loss, lowering cholesterol, depression, anti-aging and preventive medicine, etc.  Trustee Tony Schiappa also told me that many people in his running group say it helps with flexibility, strength and endurance.  The owner, Shelly Thomas, a native of India, is offering a special $10 class for any Burr Ridge residents who mention this Friday Wrap article.  They also offer traditional (not hot) Yoga classes and Pilates.

On a Personal Note . . .
Today, our daughter landed safely in Turkey on her way for a 10 day trip through Europe!  Traveling with three friends, they are venturing to Athens and Santorini in Greece as well as Rome, Italy and a few other countries!!

 Have a great week,
