The FRIDAY WRAP for August 3rd, 2018

Hello and welcome to the Friday Wrap for August 3rd, 2018!  Hope you enjoy hearing the wrap-up of BURR RIDGE News, Events and Progress for this past week.

This is a phrase that I still hear a lot, but it never gets old.  Well, after hearing an emphatic “I Love Burr Ridge” from a friend of mine, Lisa Hughes, and to have her go on about how she especially loves the shopping and dining here, I couldn’t help but ask her to come to the Village Green to film the Friday Wrapand do a little testimonial and remind us all!  Lisa is the director of tournament sales at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont…in case anyone is looking to organize an outing?  Click on this link or picture:

Concerts on the Green:
It was a quiet week in Burr Ridge, but the weekends have been Rockin!  Perfect weather and Record Crowds best summarizes last Friday’s concert performed by RECKLESS, led by Burr Ridge’s very own Lisa Martusciello! It was Sponsored by Capri…and Gigi who was there with his wife, Antoinella.  Pictured also are Laura Birmingham  (Indian Prairie Library), Tony Colant (Colant Landscaping), Rocko and Charmaine, plus Tom Schwendt with his wife and friends. Tonight’s band is FORTUNATE SONS(sponsored by Right Fit…and Suzanne Gray.)
Interviews for 2 Plan Commissioners:
Interviewing continued this week for both the full and alternate Plan Commissioners.  Our selection announcements will be made at next Board Meeting to be held on Monday, August 13th.
SOS coming to BR…again!
The Illinois Secretary of State Mobile Drivers Services Facility will return to Burr Ridge for the second time this year which is a perk that not every town can claim. The facility will be at Village Hall on August 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their mobile facility will be set up in the Board Room complete with cameras for new identification cards and driver’s licenses. Vision screening, and vehicle renewal stickers which will be available at that time. You can bring a check, credit/debit card, or money order to pay for any services received.  The facility will visit Burr Ridge once more this year on Nov. 7.
On Personal Notes   . . .

  • Mayor Goes Shooting in TEXAS:  While on a business trip to Dallas/Fort Worth, I went shooting both shotguns and hand guns for the first time in my life.  A good friend of mine is a veteran and is a great instructor and I did pretty well…especially with a 9MM and the gun made famous by Clint Eastwood, the 44 Magnum. (I also got to admire his collection of Mustang Shelby's!)
  • Yesterday, August 2nd, marked the Anniversary of my Dad’s Birthday; he would have been 105 years old.  Albert J. Straub passed away 40 years ago just an hour and ten minutes before he would have turned 65.  (Longevity was not in his family history, but alcohol and nicotine probably contributed.  Now you know why I am almost a “Teetotaler” and have never smoked.)

 Have a blessed week…that’s a Wrap,

 Mayor Mickey
