FRIDAY WRAP for February 2nd, 2018

Hello and welcome to The Friday Wrap for February 2nd, 2018!

Crowne Plaza Hotel Hosts Super Bowl Party at “Sip & Savor Bar”:
The Crowne Plaza has a great lounge and restaurant right off their lobby called “Sip & Savor” and it’ll make for a great place to watch the Super Bowl!  There will be drink specials all during the game, plus BBQ wings, Chef’s chili, and pulled pork sliders. You’re welcome to just show up, but for more information and advance reservations, contact the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 630-325-2900. Patriots or Eagles fan, it will be a great time! (I was born and raised in PA and have been rooting for the Eagles to win their first Super Bowl for years!)

Starbucks has a new “10 Minute” Parking Sign!
Something long overdue has been added in front of Starbucks last week, which is a “10 Minute Parking”sign for someone who is really just looking to pick up or run in and out quickly.   For the convenience of customers for all the stores, it will only be from 5 AM – 12 Noon.

Upcoming Plan Commission Meeting: The Plan Commissioners will be meeting this Monday at the Village Hall at 7:30 pm.  On the agenda is a special use for an irrigation business at 15W308 North Frontage Road and consideration of the final plans for McNaughton's Lakeside Pointe PUD (Planned Unit Development) adjacent to the Marriott.  FYI…they already have deposits on some of the lots!

Pump Center Property Sale: The closing for the sale of the village's Pump Center property was successfully completed on Thursday, February 1st.  The proceeds will be deposited in the Village's debt service to be set aside for retiring the Police Station debt.

More Zip Code Issues: At a recent conference, Village Arborist Gary Gatlin, noticed that a photo identified the Burr Ridge Village Center as being in Willowbrook, Illinois.  This just adds more motivation and a good argument for our latest attempt to get our own Zip Code for Burr Ridge.  After being turned down again recently by the United States Postal Service, we are in the appeal process and will keep you posted.

Spectrum Senior Living Update: Community Development employees Evan Walter  and Julie Tejkowski toured the Spectrum Senior Living facility under construction
to see the progress. Spectrum will have various unit types which include assisted living with one, two and three bedroom units which will all have private bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms, and will have a secured memory care wing. The facility will feature a large community dining area and two small bistros, a movie room that will seat about 22 people, a beauty salon, an exercise room, and a library. The courtyard will include walking paths, seating areas, landscaping , fountains and a putting green. Construction of the duplex cottages will begin this spring.  The sales trailer is being installed next week.

Campaign Update:
This week, we made some major progress with the launch of a new campaign website at www.MickeyStraub.com and I went to the Chicago Tribune Tower for an Endorsement Interview by one of their Editorial Board members.  Sitting next to my opponent, we fielded many questions about issues, plans, goals and the intense campaign.  The Tribune will make their announcements around February 19th.  This past Wednesday, I also attended a fundraiser for Gubernatorial Candidate Jeanne Iveshosted at Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock.

Make it a great week,

Mayor Mickey
