Welcome again to the Friday Wrap for July 28th, 2017! There were a lot of things happening around the village. (Sorry, no video this week, except the one about GROOT.)
CONCERTS ON THE GREEN Update: Every week I hear “This is the best band so far!” and last week was no different. The Second Hand Soul Band had a lot of people on their feet when the lead singers were either singing from the grass in front of the stage or strolling through the crowd. Tonight we have Miss Tess & the Talkbacks from Nashville who are making a stop in BR while on tour.
REMINDER: Exclusive Waste Hauler Starts NEXT WEEK!
As a reminder, Burr Ridge will have one, Exclusive Waste Hauler (aka Garbage Collector) and by now you should have gotten your new containers dropped off by GROOT Industries. This topic was studied for 18 months and, after a lot of feedback from residents and Home Owners Associations, they felt the benefits (Safety, Lower Pricing, Reduced wear and tear on Roads, etc.) were significant enough to make the change. GROOT will provide unlimited collection of refuse, recycling and yard waste included in rate and Senior discounts for homeowners 65 and older. Their regular sized containers are 95 Gallon for refuse and 65 Gallon for recyclables, but they also have a 65 Gallon and 35 Gallon respectively if you don’t accumulate much (like us) or the larger ones are too big for the garage or difficult to maneuver.
Here is a (7) min video of the GROOT representative explaining their service and container options: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQsA5iNgfrE. (Click on link or picture)
RUN for VETERANS…this Sunday!
The annual 5k Run/Walk will be held at the Village Center this Sunday, July 30th and will begin at 9:00 AM. Come one…come all to support our VETERANS!!
DMMC Meeting last Saturday: There was a special meeting called by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference to help ensure agreement about our uniform goals among all DuPage County mayors and villages. It was held at DMMC headquarters in Oak Brook and was one of the most well attended so far!
On Semi-Personal Notes . . .
Last weekend, residents of Deer Path Trail were “partying hardy”! There was a July Party at the home of Kamal Dutt home (which coincided with his birthday) and a Block Party at the home of Dr. Satya Ahujawhere I was able to meet several new residents!
And I just had to include a picture of Laura Mulvenna on her bike with her dog (London) riding in the attached basket. It was a Kodak Moment! (As it was once called…LOL)
That's a Wrap...make it a great week!
