Welcome to the Friday Wrap and welcome to March! It is the 2nd of March and just 9 days away from Daylight Savings Time. Just a few more weeks and I should be back on schedule with the Friday Wrap…after the March 20th Primary.
Village Board Meeting:
The Regular Meeting of the Mayor & Board of Trustees was held on Monday and most items were on the Consent Agenda. Discussed at some length was an Intergovernmental Agreement between Burr Ridge and Willow Springs that would be close to historic! The villages have been working for some time on what I have been calling “Common Sense Boundaries” in which Burr Ridge would de-annex a strip of land on Pleasantview Drive and German Church Road that would be annexed into Willow Springs, and Willow Springs would de-annex a strip of land on Buege Lane and German Church Road that would be annexed into Burr Ridge. This exchange of all vacant land would enable both villages to make it more practical to then build homes on streets owned and maintained in their own municipality. It will now be referred to the Plan Commission for their review and recommendations.
After the Regular Meeting, the Board held a Closed Session to discuss possible litigation on an unrelated issue.
Secretary of State’s Mobile Drivers Facility coming to Burr Ridge:
You may want to plan ahead for this great convenience that few other towns in the state benefit from! The SOS Mobile Driver’s Facility will once again be at the Village Hall on Wednesday, March 14th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The driver’s services that they provide include vision screening, duplicate and/or corrected drivers’ licenses, new ID cards and even vehicle renewal stickers. It sure beats driving to the Lombard facility or elsewhere to get these things done!!
We had two incredible events this week which included a private Meet & Greet in Ambriance last Sunday and the Final Stretch Fundraiser hosted by County Wine Merchant on Thursday that was more crowded than many Friday nights! Thank you everyone…for your friendship and support!
My wife was so right when she told me a couple of months ago: “Honey, the one benefit of this campaign is that when you get through it, you’ll know who your friends are?” Truer words were probably never spoken, but I also have to say that I’m also so grateful for all the new friends that I have made along the way! FYI…Yard Signs can be picked up at Campaign HQ at 15W256 N. Frontage Road in Burr Ridge or we can deliver them if you would prefer?
Good health and blessings,
Mayor Mickey Straub
