(Re: I-294 Expansion, Gandhi, Goal Setting, Hampton Social, SOS, Campaign)
Welcome to the Friday Wrap for November 3, 2017! Remember, Daylight Savings Time is on Saturday night…Yay!!! Hope you’re very productive with that extra hour next week!
Expansion of I-294 Tollway Starts Next Year: This week, Doug Pollock, Dave Preissig and I met with representatives from the Illinois Tollway Authority to get an update on the expansion project of I-294 from 95th Street north to Balmoral Avenue. They will be adding a Flex Lane that will also be used for incident management and transit and are planning to keep the same number of lanes open during construction. Next year is dedicated to utility relocation, permitting and design phase. The North Avenue Interchange will start in 2019 and the project will continue through 2025. I’ll provide more information as it becomes available.
Lions Club and Mahatma Gandhi Event: Felt blessed and a part of history when I attended the unveiling of a rare Mahatma Gandhi Statue (sent from England) this week at Lions Club International Headquarters in Oak Brook this week! Also great to see Village President Gopal Lalmalani, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Ashfaq Syed as well as other mayors and so many dignitaries and attendees from Burr Ridge!!
Village Strategic Planning: The second part of the Village Strategic Planning Workshop conducted by the Mayor, Board of Trustees and the department heads was held at the Burr Ridge Police Station this week. While reviewing our 5 year vision from the previous meeting, we spent three more hours discussing our specific goals related to Economics, Development, Residential, Community, CityServices and Governance. Robert A. Oberwise, CEO & Managing Partner with Executive Partners of Naples, Florida led the discussion and is preparing a summary.
Other Development News: There were also meetings held recently to discuss the properties being developed as the final stage of Highland Fields and the possible development/annexation of homes and lots near 74th and Vine Streets.
Secretary of State’s Mobile Facility…in Burr Ridge next week!
The Secretary of State’s Mobile Driver’s Facility will once again be at the Village Hall this upcoming Wednesday, November 8th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The driver’s services that they provide include vision screening, duplicate and/or corrected drivers’ licenses, new ID cards and vehicle renewal stickers.
The Plan Commission will meet on Monday, November 6th and the Pathway Commission on Thursday, November 9th.
Hampton Social Opening Next Week: We have had a lot of great new developments in Burr Ridge of late, but few have been looked forward to as much as this. Everyone is very excited that Hampton Social will be opening on Thursday, November 9th! (We didn't film from there this week so that we could keep some of the inside to be a surprise!)
On a Political Note . . .
A friend of mine and fellow patriot, Jeannie Ives, announced her Candidacy for Governor! Like me, she will be going up against the establishment and the incumbent. Under normal times, that would be unheard of, but challenges are not new for this West Point Grad and two-term State Representative. But these are not normal times and I wish Jeannie Ives good luck as she strives to become Illinois’ first female governor!!!
Signatures Needed: As far as my race for State Representative for the 82nd District, several of us will be walking Burr Ridge and knocking on doors all weekend to get signatures for my petition to get on the ballot…FYI!!! (We will be kicking it all off from my business office (SAM, Inc., 15W256 N. Frontage Road, BR) between 9-10 AM tomorrow and around noon on Sunday…just in case you wanted to assist???)
On a Personal Note . . .
Well, it had to happen eventually: our daughter (Alysa) is getting her first place (now that she’s working) and moving downtown Chicago! We will officially be “Empty Nesters” for the first time as she “flies the coop”! It happened so fast…but a lot of you already know how it feels. (I included some cool pics of downtown Chicago during our search!!)
That's a Wrap...have a blessed week!
