Welcome to the Friday Wrap for October 6, 2017!

Elvis at County Wine Merchant: An Elvis tribute performer was at the County Wine Merchant last Friday night and he was sensational! He also teams up with a Johnny Cash performer and I hope they come back to BR soon!
Burr Ridge at the AUTOBAHN in Joliet: Burr Ridge was well represented on the track at the AUTOBAHN in Joliet last Sunday! I went to see BR resident Bill Howard (and EVP of PersonalizationMall.com of BR) drive the PMall.com sponsored Open Wheel Race Car. (It was my first visit there…and I even ended up on the track driving a Camaro SS during the Touring hour!) Then, right before I left, we ran into another BR resident and friend, Henry Malukas and two internationally known Race Car Drivers: his son and teenage driving sensation David Malukas, and Victor Franzoni who won the Pro Mazda Championship in September! (Their car and trailer were AMAZING!) If you want to see the Indy-like cars whizzing by at 130MPH, click on this picture:
Plan Commission Meeting: The Plan Commissioners met on Monday and the biggest topic was one they have been looking at for some time and the largest development (44 Single-family homes) in Burr Ridge for many years called “Lakeside Pointe” located adjacent to the Marriott Hotel. After a couple of years of starts and stops by a previous developer, our local McNaughton Development (owned by Burr Ridge resident Paul McNaughton) contracted to buy the property and went to work on plans months ago! They received unanimous approval for their latest plans after considerable discussion and suggestions by the Plan Commissioners and it will go to the Village Board on Monday.
Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber Meeting: The monthly meeting of the WB/BR Chamber meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Countryside on Wednesday. The guest speaker was Jod Bogdan, a Partner with Culhane Meadows, who gave all of us entrepreneurs some great suggestions on how to obtain investment money for our companies. Coincidentally, that hotel is also owned by the same group that is building the Hampton Inn & Suites in Burr Ridge near Harvester Park.
Mayor Announces Candidacy for State Rep:
In case you missed it, it is official! This week, I announced my candidacy for State Representative in the 82nd District. This was always something that I dreamed of, but it was not in my plans, at least not anytime soon. It must be true that “When we make plans, God laughs”. But after recent events which you can read about in the Press Release, as well as renewed connections with like-minded supporters, I felt guided to give people a choice in the Primary on March 20th and I will be up against the incumbent, Jim Durkin who is running for his 11th Term. It’s a long-shot anytime you take on the proverbial “Establishment”, the ones who have been in charge for years or in this case, decades. I like to think that I’m not running against a Republican, I’m running against Results.
For the last ten years, especially, Illinois has become an “Evacuation State” and we are losing residents at the rate of “1 Person every 8 minutes”. Success leaves clues, but so does failure. Among my goals is to help make it the “Destination State” that it used to be by getting back to traditional Republican values espoused by our patriarchs, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, and upon which this state was built.
Official Press Release:
That's a Wrap...make it a great week!
